Magic Ring

I don’t. I find rings to be clunky and useless. My fingers change size frequently enough and from morning to afternoon enough, that a ring which fits fine in the morning is loose enough to fall off and get lost at noon, and too tight to wear by evening. Inconvenient.

BUT! I found a model of the power ring of the Green Lantern Corps. And with a little bit of parametric resizing, and some printing…

I have a ring of power. Because what magician do you know who doesn’t have a ring of power that they forged themselves, on a 3D Printer?

Kavad 3.0 and 4.8 together

Kavad 3.0 and 4.8 together

This is pretty cool for several reasons. First, I’ll have to work on the kavad some more before I can use the workbench again, and second, I’ve now photographed version 3.0 and 4.8 together. And I have proof that they both existed. And now I can ‘trash’ Version 3.0 any time I want to, and go on with version 4.8. I don’t have to destroy it right this instant, of course, but I could. And there’s something very freeing about knowing that some of your work can go out the door, either in trashbags or to the auction house, without regret.

Taiji Day 156: Hitting the Left Hand

During the windmill kick this morning during the form, the toes of my right foot grazed the outstretched left palm, and then hit the right palm, on the way to the floor.  This is what I was trying to achieve a week or so ago. I have a feeling it’s not going to happen again for a little while… these things take time, first of all; and second of all I’m not sure what I did that made this little change possible. Something felt different on the way into the maneuver, though, and it feels like it’s going to take some time to figure out what that change is.

But my body knows how to do it after all. That makes me feel pretty good.
